If you use CodeSync, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it. We might update these terms down the road (usually to cover features we hadn't thought of yet). If we make big changes, we'll email you. Continuing to use CodeSync after that means you're cool with the new terms.
CodeSync is a real-time collaborative code editor. Sometimes it's up, sometimes it's not (maintenance happens, and occasionally we break things). We don't guarantee 100% uptime, but for the Enterprise plan we do guarantee 99.99% (and we pay you if we miss it).
You're responsible for your password. If someone gets into your account because you wrote your password on a post-it note, that's on you, not us. Let us know if you see suspicious activity.
If you're on a team account, the account owner (the person paying) can remove you. It's their account, their rules. If that happens and you think it's unfair, take it up with them, not us.
Don't use CodeSync to: (a) do anything illegal, (b) host malware or phishing sites, (c) try to hack us or other users, or (d) build a direct competitor using our API data. The last one is just rude.
If you do something that gets us in trouble (like hosting illegal content), we'll delete it and might ban your account. We'll try to warn you first, but if it's serious we might just shut it down.
Obvious, but: the code you write on CodeSync is yours. We don't claim any ownership. We just store it and sync it for you. If you delete a project, we delete it (after the 30-day backup window).
Our trademarks (the CodeSync name, logo, etc.) — those are ours. Don't use them without asking, and honestly, why would you want to?
Paid plans are billed upfront, monthly or yearly. No refunds if you decide to cancel halfway through the month — you had access to the service, so that's fair. If we raise prices, we'll tell you 30 days in advance. You can cancel before the new price kicks in.
You agree that if something goes wrong (data loss, downtime, etc.), our liability is limited to what you paid us in the last 12 months. That's standard legal language, but it's there because we're a small company and one massive lawsuit could kill us. We're not out to screw anyone, but we need to cap our risk.
This agreement is governed by Delaware law (we're incorporated there, it's standard for US companies). If we end up in court, it'll be in Wilmington, Delaware. Not because we love Wilmington, but because that's where the contract says.
Email legal@codesync.dev. If it's a real legal issue, we'll loop in our lawyers. If it's just a question about what something means, we'll answer directly (we're not that formal).
